| The Business Rules
There is perhaps a new economy out there but the Rules that govern any organization’s success have been in effect since The Noah Boat Company. These Rules are not to be confused with management theories that come and go (possibly a rule in itself), but are enduring, timeless, crafted of the finest tempered steel. These Rules apply to any type of enterprise (e-Bay or General Motors) and any size enterprise (one chair barbershop or IBM). The Rules remain valid through any business cycle, pertain equally to Old/New economy companies and most important are relevant to anyone in business (from C.E.O. to supervisor). The Business Rules serves to provide a framework that demystifies the process of succeeding in business and enables any entity to control their own destiny to the maximum extent capitalism will allow. What differentiates TBR from the typical business publication is that it is largely bereft of theory – the rules are simple, precise and totally within the control of any enterprise. These truths are inarguable and enduring, not theoretical or faddish. The book is richly embroidered with real world anecdotal evidence, from companies both large and small. It also draws upon the author’s own substantive experience and is augmented by the verbatim counsel of an organizational genius who at one time was the second highest paid executive in the country and was intimately involved in the author’s endeavors.
